Edit Value® present at SIMAC Tanning Tech Fair in Milan

On the 24th and 25th of September, Edit Value® took part in the SIMAC Tanning Tech fair in Milan, one of the most renowned international events in the footwear and leather industry, where it represented the European project Shoe 5.0 – Partnership for Footwear Industry 5.0 Readiness.

The project, co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, aimed to support the European footwear sector in implementing Industry 5.0, which is based on sustainability, resilience, and human centricity, going beyond the goals of efficiency and productivity.

In this context, Shoe 5.0 developed a training package with innovative content (AI-generated videos, infographics, an app with augmented reality exercises, among others), allowing current and future footwear professionals to build their skills in a personalised way through the project’s self-assessment tool for training needs.

On the eve of the fair, the final in-person meeting of the project’s R&D consortium took place, bringing together: Edit Value® (Portugal), Centro Tecnológico do Calçado de Portugal (Portugal), European Footwear Confederation (Belgium), Centro Tecnológico del Calzado de La Rioja (Spain), Politecnico Calzaturiero (Italy), ByAR (Portugal) e Universitatea Tehnica Gheorghe Asachi Din Iasi (Romania).

During the fair, the conference “Upskilling Footwear Professionals for Industry 5.0: Insights from the Shoe 5.0 Initiative” was held, focusing on the importance of European cooperation in preparing professionals in the sector to face the challenges of Industry 5.0. Organised by the project consortium, the conference addressed the role of EU-funded projects in skills development, presented the objectives and results achieved by Shoe 5.0, and showcased, in a practical way, the augmented reality tools applied to training. The event brought together representatives from companies, technology centres, training institutions, and European associations, promoting knowledge sharing and discussion on the future of the footwear industry.
